Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website saves to your browser when you visit. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — for example, your preferred language, whether you have dismissed a consent banner, or items in a shopping cart.
Cookies are set either by the website you are visiting (first-party cookies) or by third-party services embedded in the page (third-party cookies). They can be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (stored for a defined period).
2. How We Use Cookies
AntarcticaCompared is designed to use minimal cookies. Specifically:
- Cookie consent preference. If you interact with our cookie consent banner, we store a small first-party cookie to remember your choice so you are not asked again on your next visit. This cookie contains no personal information and expires after 12 months.
- No analytics cookies by default. We do not load Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other behavioural tracking or analytics service without your explicit consent. If you grant consent for analytics cookies via our consent banner, a session analytics cookie may be set to help us understand how visitors use the site (page views, referral sources). This data is never sold or shared with third parties for advertising purposes.
- No advertising cookies. We do not set advertising cookies or work with any ad network that tracks you across other websites.
3. Third-Party Cookies
Some elements of this Site may result in third-party cookies being set by services we do not directly control:
- Google Fonts. This Site uses Google Fonts to display typography. When your browser loads a Google Font, Google's servers may set a cookie or log your IP address. See Google's Privacy Policy for details. We have configured Google Fonts to be loaded in a privacy-friendly manner where possible.
- Operator websites. When you follow a link from AntarcticaCompared to an expedition operator's website (e.g. to view pricing or make a booking), that operator's site may set its own cookies. We have no control over, and no responsibility for, the cookies set by any external site.
- Referral tracking. Where we earn referral commissions from operators, a referral tracking cookie may be set by the operator's website when you follow our link. This cookie is set by the operator, not by AntarcticaCompared, and is used solely to attribute the referral. See the relevant operator's privacy policy for details.
